The Shavazi Townhouse Residence is a newly renovated urban townhouse that captures the urban transition from the tiny housing fabric of the early Shavazi neighbourhood and the later wave of townhouses in Neve Tzedek. In recent years and in response to the neighbourhood’s conservation plan, many houses in the neighbourhood have been rebuilt or refurbished, transforming the main Shavazi Street into a vibrant street with trendy shops and boutiques.The Shavazi Townhouse continues the material-based transformation of facades and envelopes which started over 100 years ago with the traditional wooden shutters on the building’s ground floor windows and gradually shifted to the typical perforated terracotta screens (Mashrabiya) of the 90’s.
